Joost Lijbaart
A Dutch jazz drummer, composer and bandleader whose work bridges jazz, improvised music, contemporary classical traditions and cross-cultural collaboration. A prominent figure in the Dutch jazz scene, he has performed in more than sixty countries worldwide, notably as a founding member of the Yuri Honing Trio and Quartet. His artistic path includes collaborations with musicians such as Wolfert Brederode, Benjamin Herman, Mats Eilertsen and Theo Loevendie, as well as projects integrating dance, spoken word and modern composition. Lijbaart’s musical language is shaped by classical percussion training, studies in West African rhythm and a deep commitment to interaction and open form, resulting in a versatile and internationally recognized body of work.
