The Beauty of Repetition
In conversations—whether casual chats or formal interviews—people often ask where we see ourselves in the future or what new achievements we dream of. While big dreams are wonderful, must they always involve creating something different or conquering new frontiers? Isn’t repeating something beautiful and achievement in itself? Isn’t consistency just as valuable?
New discoveries are thrilling, no doubt. But it’s unfair to overlook the joy of reliving meaningful experiences. Imagine a kind angel entering your life, capable of preparing every delicious dish from nearly 100 different cultures—each with at least seven must-try meals. If this angel serves two dishes a day, it would take almost a year to cycle through them all.
Now, as a devoted Wiener Schnitzel lover, I must admit—I wouldn’t have the patience to wait a whole year for my next bite! Some things are too good to savor just once in a while. The joy of revisiting something that has touched you deeply—whether it’s a favorite meal or a piece of music you’ve heard a thousand times—is irreplaceable.
Show of Hands has reached its 10th year and 6th edition. For us, the excitement of each new edition and the fulfillment it brings is more than enough. We don’t feel the need to chase after new spectacles and dream of keeping this festival modestly running, year after year, just as it is. And that, in itself, is and achievement worth celebrating.
