My instrument bağlama (saz) is a traditional instrument coming from my culture (Alevi-Bektashi). That’s why I have strong connection with the traditional essence of the instrument, but on the other hand I try to open a new perspective by changing melodic patterns, rhythmical cycles and the general color of the bağlama. Our music is generally based on the poetry of âşıks (troubadours) and the melodic patterns which are mostly based on poems, but without words, I aim to create a new tension and hyper-textual texture on my instrument.
