As a matter of fact, improvised and written music mean the same thing to me. Therefore, when I’m improvising I try to make it sound like the music is written, and try to make it sound like it’s an improvisation when the music is written. I try to express myself through the material I have, the way I perceive and feel it on that certain moment or that certain period of time. In this sense, it becomes my goal to make the musical instrument an extension of my body. Sometimes there comes a moment when we can’t feel it or fully get connected, but that may as well transform into an expression of alienation from oneself or one’s environment. Listening to different ways of expressions and paying attention to different types of issues make one open to understanding others and becoming part of it.
